Remember when President Obama mocked climate change deniers as members of the Flat Earth Society? Well, guess what? They actually exist. Seriously.
Let me repeat that. The Flat Earth Society actually exists, in 2013.
If you are a creationist who believes in the Young Earth ‘theory’ and are looking for even crazier ways to deny the existence of science, I’m sure they have room for you!
As part of their Flat Earth theory, they decry that gravity is merely an illusion, images of the Earth as a globe are photoshopped, and that GPS devices are rigged to make airplane pilots think they are flying in straight lines around a sphere when they are actually flying in circles above a disc.
Climate change deniers need not apply though. But sorry, President Obama. Even the Flat Earth Society believes Climate change is real.
Flat Earth Society President, Daniel Shelton said in a recent email to Salon:
“I accept that climate change is a process which has been ongoing since beginning of detectable history, but there seems to be a definite correlation between the recent increase in world-wide temperatures and man’s entry into the industrial age,” he said. “If it’s a coincidence, it’s quite a remarkable one. We may have experienced a temperature increase even without our use of fossil fuels since the Industrial Revolution, but I doubt it would be as dramatic as what we’re seeing now.”
Isn’t this crazy? Did you guys know about this?
