Horror In The Hallowed Halls: 5 Scary Republican Halloween Quotes

The season of tricks and treats is upon us again, boils and ghouls! I think this is the perfect time to look at some of the scary things the Republican Halloween quotes for this year.

To set the stage, here’s a not-so-oldie but definitely a goodie, campaign ad from Christine O’Donnell in her failed 2008 Senate race against Sen. Chris Coons in Delaware. (She lost by 17%.)

Where is she today? Begging to borrow $50,000 from her supporters to pay her legal bills stemming from her alleged criminal activities during that campaign. Perhaps she should have run an “I’m not a crook” ad instead?

Here are my picks for the top 5 scariest GOP quotes from 2013, in no particular order:

This list was harder to create than you may think, since most everything that comes out of their mouths is either a lie, angry or just plain batshit crazy!

Looking for Jesus. (In all the wrong places)
Looking for Jesus. (In all the wrong places)

“The whole issue of a class action lawsuit, you and I have talked about this a little bit. Obviously, statistically now even the Centers for Disease Control verifies that homosexuality much more likely leads to AIDS than smoking leads to cancer. And yet the entire nation has rejected smoking, billions of dollars are put into a trust fund to help cancer victims and the tobacco industry was held accountable for that.”

Good luck with that, Rick.

4.  Rep. Michele Bachmann (R), MN:

Ol’ Crazy Eyes

In an interview with the Christian radio program Understanding The Timesabout President Obama’s handling of the Syrian Crisis, Bachmann said:

“This happened and as of today the United States is willingly, knowingly, intentionally sending arms to terrorists, now what this says to me, I’m a believer in Jesus Christ, as I look at the End Times scripture, this says to me that the leaf is on the fig tree and we are to understand the signs of the times, which is your ministry, we are to understand where we are in God’s end times history,”

“Rather than seeing this as a negative, we need to rejoice, Maranatha Come Lord Jesus, His day is at hand. And so when we see up is down and right is called wrong, when this is happening, we were told this; that these days would be as the days of Noah. We are seeing that in our time. Yes it gives us fear in some respects because we want the retirement that our parents enjoyed. Well they will, if they know Jesus Christ.”

What’s truly horrifying is that she sits on the House Intelligence Committee!

Before I round out the list, I have to ask: Do you guys remember the Demon Sheep? I do. They still haunt my dreams at night:

Piety. Purity. INSANITY.

Now, back to the list.

Paul Broun
“You can trust me, because I kill animals.”

3. Rep. Paul Broun (R), GA:

During an interview

“God’s word is true,” Broun said during the 2012 Sportsman’s Banquet at Liberty Baptist Church in Hartwell, Ga. “I’ve come to understand that. All that stuff I was taught about evolution and embryology and Big Bang theory, all that is lies straight from the pit of hell. And it’s lies to try to keep me and all the folks who are taught that from understanding that they need a savior.

The scariest part? He serves on the House Science Committee!

2. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia

During an interview with Jennifer Senior in the New York Magazine, in response to a question about his religious beliefs, Scalia said:

“You’re looking at me as though I’m weird. My God! Are you so out of touch with most of America, most of which believes in the Devil? I mean, Jesus Christ believed in the Devil! It’s in the Gospels! You travel in circles that are so, so removed from mainstream America that you are appalled that anybody would believe in the Devil! Most of mankind has believed in the Devil, for all of history. Many more intelligent people than you or me have believed in the Devil.”

I don’t believe in the devil. But if he does exist, I’ll bet he was in the room the day you and SCOTUS decided bush v. gore.

And the #1 Scariest Republican Quote of 2013:

Romney Cop People Former GOP Presidential Nominee, Willard “Mitt” Romney.

 “Corporations are people, my friend!”

I wish they were, Mitt. There are a lot of corporate ‘people’ that I’d like to see behind bars serving life sentences for crimes against humanity.

So, those are my picks. What are yours?
